- Check that the walls are sound clean and dry, remove any loose flaking material, strip old wallpaper off with a steam stripper.
- Fill and smooth any cracks and holes, if the walls are uneven use a lining paper.
- Use our mould killer spray if there is any sign of mould (eg.black marks behind old wallpaper or in corners). Porous surfaces should be "sized" with diluted paste containing a fungicide.
- Check the shade/lot numbers or letters on each roll to see if they are the same. Visually inspect the rolls before hanging.
- Start hanging from the main window and work towards the longest unbroken wall, then go back to work from the other side of the window, this helps to avoid "shadow lines" if you overlap the paper anywhere.
- Cut the lengths 4" longer than the wall or more if there is a pattern match.
- Paste a length making sure nothing is missed, leave to soak as per instructions on the roll label, this helps to avoid bubbling after hanging.
- Hang the length, overlapping about 2" top and bottom, making sure its straight, using a spirit level or plumb line, smooth down using paperhanging brush from the middle outwards.
- Run back of scissors along the angle of the ceiling/skirting and cut along the crease line.
